#3 Enhanced Search Ability

Finally you can search on additional fields in your Card File besides the name field.  Take a look at the new popup list in the Card File to the right.  The enhanced search ability can be found in Activities, Cards, Items, Locations, and Recurring Transactions.  MYOB will expand this new search ability to other areas in future upgrades.

MYOB has released a new product for Point Of Sale applications called Checkout 2.0 in partnership with Sofa BV.  More on Checkout in the next newsletter after we have learned all the new features.

MYOB 2008

AccountEdge 2008 and AccountEdge 2008 Network Edition have been available for a little over five months.  Time flies doesn’t it, seems like just yesterday I attended the MYOB Certified Consultant’s Conference in New Orleans last November to kick the tires on these new versions and learn their new features.  We have upgraded many of our MYOB users to the 2008 version.  For those of you waiting, perhaps the attached PDF of the new features will be of interest to you.  Below are Russell’s top 3 new features.


#1 Offsite Backup Of MYOB Data

My number one new feature in AE 2008 has to be the ability to do backups to your dot Mac account.  Yes, now you have a great reason to get a dot Mac account ($99 a year).  This now gives the user a very easy way to maintain an offsite backup of your MYOB data in case of a disaster.  No more remembering to make a copy of your data and taking it with you in case of fire, theft or equipment failure.  When you quit AccountEdge, have AE remind you to do a backup, choose dot Mac and let it go.  Your dot Mac will keep multiple copies of your AE data ready for you to restore when needed.  Call or email us if you have any questions on this very valuable feature.

Okay, you got me, that’s really two new features rolled together.  The new Command Center has a fresh new look and now when you resize the Command Center, the icons and text become larger, not just the gray border.  Makes the bigger screen worthwhile now.

When I first saw the new Task Drawer I thought, great a new waste of screen real estate.  Once I realized that I could add any report, window, function or list to the Task Drawer and access it with a double click, I was won over.  Now instead of remembering the key shortcut (Command K) or clicking on Banking icon, then click the Bank Register icon to see how much or how little there is in the bank.  I added Bank Register to the Task Drawer so now I just double click the Bank Register in the Task Drawer and it opens.  You can easily delete any Task by clicking once on it and pressing the Delete key.
